After spending over 12 years as a university lecturer, textbook writer, cartoonist, author and photojournalist in Japan, I relocated to Eugene, Oregon in 1999. Current projects include exciting new articles for three Asian airline magazines, a new book examining the common factors between suicidal school shooters, workplace avengers and fanatical terrorists. and being Managing Director of a proposed weekly TV series called *A Taste of History* which highlights the origins and legends of famous foods across the USA and around the world.
My first travel articles were published during the late 80's in The Boston Globe. By 2000, I was producing stories on a regular basis for four newspapers, two weeklies, three in-flight and two monthly magazines. To date, I have published over 600 articles on travel, food, art, fashion and lifestyle, as well as two books on travel and three textbooks.

*The Shooting Game - The Making of School Shooters* examined the whole 33-year phenomenon of school shooting right up until spring 2006. Unfortunately, the horror has continued unabated. The fall 2006 school season was the most violent on record. Then came the worst mass murder in U.S. history on the campus of Virginia Tech, April 16, 2007. On Feb. 14, 2008, came the rampage at Northern Illinois University. These events necessitated a rewriting of *The Shooting Game*, which will be withdrawn in Spring, 2008 to make way for the new, updated version retitled *SCHOOL SHOOTINGS - What Every Parent and Educator Needs to Know to Protect Our Children.* It covers all that we have learned and lost since spring 2006, and will be released in Sept. 2008 by Kensington Books in New York City under their *Citadel* imprint.
In the process of answering the larger question - “Why and how do these events occur?” - I endeavor to give heart to the statistics and lay bare the soul of these tragedies by examining the synchronous nature of their common roots.
My previous book, "The Shooting Game" is an in-depth study of 85 school shooters with a special focus on one particular event and one unique young killer. Among all school shooters, 15-year old Kip Kinkel was the only one who also murdered both his parents. In addition, he wounded the highest number of individuals by gunfire in any student rampage until it was matched at Columbine. The themes of this book were updated and expanded in the newer version.
