Buchart Gardens, Vancouver Island
- On Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, is one of the world’s most perfect gardens. In the early 1900s, Jennie Butchart transformed a former stone quarry into a green haven overflowing with lush plants and colorful blooms. The result of her vision is The Buchart Gardens, which is still a much-visited, family-run “National Historic Site” today, with millions of bedding plants in over 900 varieties. For this shot, I put my Nikon into color sketch mode to enhance the painterly quality of the scene.
